ITINERARY

Day 1 - Welcome Ulaanbaatar and Explore the Chinggis Khan Complex

Arrive in Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar. Take an approximately 45-minute car transfer to your hostel. After a short freshen-up, we will drive 2-3hrs (85km) to west through Ulaanbaatar and reach “Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex”. Chinggis khan statue complex is located 54 km from Ulaanbaatar among beautiful natural scenery on the bank of river Tuul, in the place called “Tsonjin Boldog”, a memorial place connected with historic events. Evening drive back to UB. Overnight in hotel (BLD)

Day 2 - Drive to Gobi and visit Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa)

 After early breakfast, we start driving south to one of the best ger camps of the Gobi Desert near Eagle valley. On the way visit The rocky formations of Tsagaan Suvarga, ”white stupa”, which are located on the Southern border of the province of Dundgovi. These rocky formations eroded by the wind look like a ruined city if you observe them from a certain distance (85 kilometers, 52,82 miles). They are about 60 meters (196,85 feet) high and 400 meters (1312,34 feet) long. Overnight in ger camp. (BLD)

 

Day 3 - Eagle Valley and drive to Hongoryn Els

Visit the Eagle Valley in the Zuun Saikhan Mountain, located in the center of South Gobi aimag. The narrow Valley between high rock walls has breathtaking dramatic scenery and is undoubtedly one of the country's most beautiful places. In rainy summers hundreds of small waterfalls appear on the rocky walls. Trekking camel and horse-riding tours are available to the valley. After lunch a full day driving to the west (200 km) to Khongoryn Dunes, the biggest sand dunes in all of Asia. Arrive at 4* Ger camp and rest. (BLD)

 

Day 4: Hongoryn Els

 Free day at Khongoryn Dunes, the biggest sand dunes in all of Asia. The 350-meter-high sand dunes in Sevrei soum, South aimag, are called Khonguryn Els. These dunes are 20 km wide and 100 km long. The Khongurun River flows along the sand dunes and gives birth to oases. Stop for lunch at the tourist ger camp, then drive 10-15 km before sunset to the dunes. Try two-humped Bactrian camel riding, which are very comfortable. Overnight in the ger of the tourist camp. (BLD)

 

Day 5 - Bayan Zag Land of Dinosaurs (150km)

Known to westerners as The Flaming Cliffs, Bayan Zag (Rich with Saxaul) is famed for its’ red sandstone cliffs which take on beautiful red and orange hues during sunset. Sculptural Saxaul trees grow in the arid rocky soil. The area is also recognized as one of the world’s largest dinosaur graveyards. In 1921, the American Roy Chapman Andrews discovered here some of the most important Paleontological findings of the last century. Since then, hundreds of archeological expeditions have come to this remote desert location, and even today with the assistance of local people dinosaur fossils continue to be found in the area. We will drive for 3-4 hours (~ 150km) to Flaming Cliffs, site known for the first discovery of dinosaur eggs and unique landscape. Try your luck for dinosaur fossils here. After lunch, we drive towards the Province Capital Dalanzadgad. Overnight in the ger of the tourist camp. (BLD)

Day 6: Dalanzadgad and drive back to UB.

Free afternoon time in Dalanzadgad to visit fewer museums and drive to UB, overnight in the UB hotel

 

Day 7: Drive to EMT Lodge

After early breakfast, we start driving to the Northwest of Mongolia to one of the best fishing camps in Northern Mongolia near Teshig Soum in Bulgan Province. On the way we will stop in Erdenet City for lunch, which is the biggest mining city. Around evening, we will reach our owned EMT camp. (BLD)

Day 8: Boat Travel on the EG River

After breakfast, we will travel with jet boats among the famous EG River for approx. 25 kilometers to the Eg and Marmot River Confluence. On the way, we will explore the land and flora of Northern Mongolia. Arrived at the confluence we will have lunch picnic and time for photo shooting. Later afternoon we will return to the camp and enjoy Mongolian dinner at the camp. (BLD)

Day 9: A day at Nomads (Mongolian Yurt)

Mongolian nomads live in a ger, a round felt-covered dwelling, which has been used by Central Asian nomads for centuries. The word ger is literally translated as home in Mongolian, while its Turkish term “yurt” means homeland. Indeed, the ger provides shelter in a landscape that is both beautiful and harsh. Without visiting this ancient accommodation and meeting families living there, one would never truly get an honest taste of the nomadic lifestyle that Mongolians still treasure to this day. About three-quarters of the country's population are estimated to be living as nomadic herders. These people are renowned for their wonderful hospitality towards visitors, because of their tradition of helping one another and isolation from the outside world. We will spend a whole day at the nomadic family

Day 10: Jeep Tour (Mongolian Taiga across Tavt and Eren Rivers)

After breakfast, we will travel a full-day 4x4 jeep to explore Northern Mongolia where the Mongolian Taiga starts. We will see Teshig Soum, which is the last village before the Russian border, and travel among Taft and Eren Rivers for approx. 200 kilometers. On the way, we will explore the land and flora of Northern Mongolia. On the way we will have lunch. In the evening we will return to the camp and enjoy Mongolian dinner at the camp. (BLD)

 

Day 11: Drive to UB

After early breakfast, we start driving back to Ulaanbaatar. Meet our guides and transfer to the hotel. After checking in, venture out and explore the sprawling city of retro architecture, thrilling nightlife, wild traffic, and exciting commerce. There’s plenty to see, do and eat. Overnight in hotel. Day 12: International Departure

Early breakfast and transfer to UB airport. Take a flight back home. (B)
