Conservation

Our mission is to provide the best travel experience in Mongolia. This is not to achieve without protecting and conserving Mongolia’s natural and cultural heritage. We are dedicated to innovating a variety of conservation approaches designed to maintain the ecological integrity of the sensitive ecosystem including watersheds. In Mongolia, our partners include an international alliance of NGOs, government agencies, communities, and private businesses, all interested in the conservation of Mongolia’s unique nature. Below is some of our key conservation activities summarized:

Catch and Release: Since 2018 we have actively started promoting in catch& release campaign in Mongolia. As fishing was getting more and more popular among Mongolians we had to demonstrate that caught fish could be also released and not kept. Many couldn’t even differentiate what kind of fish was caught. For that, we have printed handbooks showing each fish’s specifics and providing information, on which fish was on the red book. Big posters across the capital city like at airports were used to promote catch and release etc. Also, a short educational video was sponsored by us introducing protecting the fish and catch& release practice.

Promoting Fly Fishing in Mongolia: Mongolia is just starting to adopt fly fishing compared to spin fishing. Most anglers practicing still spin fishing including with three hooks and all with barbs. For that purpose as pioneers, we have organized many fly fishing lessons and contests in the capital city and rural areas as well as established fishing clubs. Teaching fly fishing casting, slideshows, and on-water demonstrations have been great opportunities to highlight the sport. We have set up the first Fly Shop in the capital city by introducing all good fly fishing brands in Mongolia to inspire spin anglers to switch to fly fishing. Every year we try to organize and sponsor a fly fishing contest to promote fly fishing in Mongolia.

Sponsoring and NGO: We also donate where it is applicable for good purposes, especially in rural areas. For that, we have set up a local fund in Tengis/Shishged national park to help the national park and local community to protect the pristine rivers and fish. Our contribution will start with donating 500 USD to that NGO from each angler coming to Tengis/Shishged river watershed to fish with us. We also help a local organization like hospitals by donating necessary small medical equipment.

Save the Taimen: In cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Fresh Water Resource of Mongolia, we are actively engaged in promoting the “Save the Taimen” initiative. Taimen is extremely endangered by overfishing and polluting their pristine habitat. We promote Save the Taimen by printing the logo in t-shirts and caps and merchandising. All revenue will go to promote fly fishing and local NGOs, who are helping saving the taimen.
